National Hanging Out Day

April 19th, is "National Hanging Out Day".

This day is sponsored by Project Laundry List, an organization dedicated to "making air-drying laundry acceptable and desirable as a simple and effective way to save energy".

So tomorrow wherever you live, why not wash those whites and allow them to blow free in the fresh, springtime air for a change. Use the few minutes it takes to think about what you are doing for the environment, and of other small changes you can make to green up your life. Enjoy!

I'd like to participate, but the weather forecast calls for 70% chance of rain :(

We're supposed to have rain tomorrow but I have clothes on the line in the basement. Thanks for the link. My hubby writes posts for the 'project greenify blog' for an energy company in Texas. I think he's going to do a post on "hanging out day".

My family has never had a tumbledryer. My mum always dried the washing (for eight of us)outside except on wet dull winter days when it would be next to the boiler in the kitchen. I've always felt that a dryer would be more work - much easier to hang things and go off and do something more useful.
I don't iron either. Has anyone yet started a no iron month ( you'd have to make it longer than a day or a week for the addicts, I think - get them out of the habit).

Hi Laura,
Thank you for visiting, I will most certainly be back to visit you again. Your blog, and work sounds so interesting. Sorry about the weather forecast for tomorrow. In the UK where I am from we always used to be dodging rain showers to get the washing dry. It keeps you fit too. :)

Hi Fullfreezer,
Do you know I absolutely LOVE your blog? Thanks for popping by and enjoy hanging that washing! I will check out the green blog your hubby writes for. Sounds right up my alley.

Hi Scattered Gardener,
I HATE ironing and always have a huge pile that needs to be done. How do you manage not to do any? I always think shirts and dresses at the very least need it but please show me a way so that they don't. Please also sign me up for the no iron month when you start it because I have many of those! :)

Knowing that we're in for 4 days of rain, I washed all I could yesterday when it was sunny and a whopping 72*! Everything went out on the line and was dry in 2 hours!
This morning in church, I realized my 4 year old smelled like clothesline-dried clothes. A little scratchy feeling, but lovely smelling!
