What is that?

It is the flowers of queens wreath which is a vine I have growing up my orange bells. It wont grow where I want it to grow but it looks pretty anyway. :)

You have two things (at least) that I don't: the ability to take a great garden shot, and that pink thingy. Just looking at it, I can tell it's not hardy here. Zone 7? You can tell me, I can take it.

Christine in Alaska, no hot pink flowers at the moment

Christine, you always make me smile. Thank you! I have to confess the pink thingy is not even nearly native to here, I think it grows well in much wetter places than here. Not sure where it is native to though. It is one of my few thirsty extravagances because I really do try to grow arid plants here. It has such pretty flowers though, I couldn't resist. It doesn't do what I want it to of course, (typical plant). :) I wanted to train it up the walls of our house but it steadfastly refuses to do this and always wants to grow through my orange bells instead. Now I just let it, and enjoy the way the orange and pink flowers look together. Pointless trying to fight with nature! :)
